With roots dating back to 1380, when a monk created a fragrant water from local island flowers to welcome Queen Giovanna d’Angiò. Forgotten for centuries, the original formulas were rediscovered in 1948 and, with papal permission, revived by a chemist who founded Carthusia... the world’s smallest fragrance laboratory. 

Today, Carthusia continues the island’s centuries-old perfume tradition. Each fragrance is still made in limited quantities, faithfully following the artisanal methods once used by the Carthusian monks — preserving the spirit and beauty of Capri in every bottle.
